virtual art

For the past couple week I've been wandering around the virtual world of Second Life. The whole world is created by the users using 3 dimensional building blocks called primitives (prims) and a programming language specific to the game. Now I know nothing about programming but I've used Photoshop and Illustrator, from which I've learned a few skills that translate easily to building with prims. Down below is a flower scupture I built using prims.

Now the most interesting yet somewhat perplexing idea that my 3d sculpture is only 3d in this virtual world and truly only exists in real life as a series of 1's and 0's on a server in San Francisco. Can data be art?

BCFF - Outside My Window

Outside my window is the railing of our porch, the top of a small tree and another apartment building just like the one I live in. It's a bit boring.
