Figure Drawing: 10 minute pose - charcoal on newsprint
I'm really happy how this one came out. I then went back and added color with Photoshop.

I made this bowl out of paper and glue. The image on the inside is a combination of two random doodles I'd done that not only fit together nicely but fit together perfectly to duplicate them four times around. Color was added using acryllic paint and black ink. I'm still trying to get a handle on acryllics.

I had fun doing it and I think I'll probably make a few more things this way. I have a silly creature in mind for next time.

I made the bowl specifically to donate to a charity the local foodbank is holding because I'd given away all my ceramic bowls last sping and had nothing left.

It's Blind Contour Friday!

I can never just sit and wait. I decided to do a blind contour of the class skeleton while waiting for my figure drawing class to start. It also gave me something to post for Blind Contour Friday.

Figure drawing class: Last night we actually drew a figure in a seried of 5 minute poses. I'm no Michelangelo but I'm pretty happy with the results given this was my first time.

Figure Drawing Class: Here's the front and side view of a one-legged skeleton. It's a little out of proportion thanks to my great skills of dividing up an area. I found it very interesting that you can literally break up a persons body by the size of their head. I've got to work on creating more of a three dimensional feel with my lines. The paper is very large...18"x24". I haven't worked one paper that big since high school. It took some getting used to.

Cats

For Illustration Friday: "Scardy Cat"

Usually I do something new for Illustration Friday but this is one of my favorite cat drawings I've done. It was doodled in either October or November of 2004 while I was bored out of my mind in an Art Appreciation class. I came out of that class with quite a few good doodles.

"Yikes!" doodled while waiting for my History class to start.

Blind Contour Friday...a few days later

Back to School

It's been a number of weeks since I've done a BCF. I was busy over the holidays cleaning and organizing for the new year and then I lost all my art and photos saved on my hard drive. After a bit of a cry I'm putting it behind me and moving forward.

two more Exquisite Corspes

slice I was given - I had a hard time coming up with a way to complete the slice.

what I did with it.
click HERE to see the finished combined image. I like how my image came out but the total combined image is probably my least favorite of the four I've done.

The idea for this one came very quickly. Click HERE to see the finished combined image. This is my favorite so far of the ones I've worked on.

Sea

Just something quick, more of a sketch than a finished image for Illustration Friday's topic "Sea." Created using Illustrator. I think eventually I'll go back and work this out a bit more but not this week.

how do you like them apples?

2006

I'm not usually one to do New Years resolutions but I do believe that writing down goals are important so here are my 2006 art goals:

1. Do at least 2 Illustration Fridays a month.
2. Do at least 2 Everyday Matters challenges a month.
3. Do a Blind Contour every week.
4. Do at least 1 painting every month.
5. Enter 1 contest per quarter.
6. Daily doodle.
7. Take more pictures.
8. Start and finish 1 project from project notebook per quarter

I was shooting for 10 goals but I think these 8 will keep me sufficiantly busy between work and school and family time.

Flavor

Not that winter really feels like winter where I live but for some reason I thought I'd illustrate the flavor of summer for Illustration Friday's topic "flavor." This was done using Illustrator.
